Nuclear energy, for example, has received hundreds of billions in government subsidies.\nScheer emphasized that investing in renewable energy is far more sustainable, offering long-term security for society. He argued that renewable energy provides safer and more stable future supply compared to conventional energy sources, which are becoming increasingly costly and unreliable.\nHe also noted that more than 40 developing countries already spend more on oil imports than they earn from exports, proving the urgent need for energy independence through renewable sources.\n More Must Be Done to Promote Renewable Energy\nEconomic development depends directly on access to affordable and stable energy. As long as consumers must continuously bear rising energy costs, escaping economic stagnation becomes increasingly difficult.\nInternational institutions such as the International Atomic Energy Agency and the International Energy Agency were established to shape global energy policy. However, their contribution to the promotion of renewable energy remains limited.\nScheer criticized these institutions, stating that they operate according to traditional economic interests and fail to prioritize renewable energy development. He called for the creation of an independent international agency dedicated exclusively to renewable energy, free from the influence of fossil fuel and nuclear industries.\n\nGerman Government Supports Renewable Energy\nAccording to Scheer, the chances of establishing an international renewable energy agency have improved, as Germany\u2019s new government has taken initiative in this direction.\nHe emphasized that such an organization does not necessarily need to operate only under the framework of the United Nations. Instead, it can be established with the support of governments that recognize the strategic importance of renewable energy for global stability and development.\n\nRenewable Energy Expands in Southeast Europe\nRenewable energy projects are rapidly expanding across Southeast Europe. Scheer highlighted that numerous small-scale projects have already been implemented throughout the region.\nDespite existing economic challenges, he stated that the potential for renewable energy development is strong. Conventional energy sources are becoming increasingly expensive, while renewable energy is becoming more affordable and reliable because it is locally produced and does not require costly imports.\n Renewable Energy in Kosovo\nFor a developing country such as Kosovo, renewable energy systems are essential. This was demonstrated by the company \u201cResearch and Development in Kosovo,\u201d which recently presented the country\u2019s first photovoltaic construction capable of converting sunlight into electricity.\nScheer emphasized that post-conflict reconstruction offers a unique opportunity to build modern renewable energy systems instead of restoring outdated infrastructure. He highlighted wind power, solar energy, and bioenergy as key drivers for economic revitalization.\n Kosovo\u2019s Strong Renewable Energy Potential\nKosovo has significant potential for renewable energy production. A joint project between \u201cResearch and Development in Kosovo\u201d and the German company \u201cYandalux\u201d is already implementing pilot projects for renewable-based public lighting infrastructure.\nCompany director Ilir Seferi confirmed that such projects are highly realistic. Kosovo benefits from strong solar radiation levels, making solar energy particularly effective.\nHe stressed that cooperation between the Kosovo government, international financial institutions, and the Kosovo Energy Corporation is essential for long-term success.\n Challenges to Implementation\nSeferi pointed out that high customs duties on renewable energy equipment represent a major obstacle. While most European countries impose minimal taxes on ecological technologies, Kosovo applies significantly higher import fees.\nDespite this, he expressed optimism, noting that the Ministry of Energy has promised institutional support to reduce these barriers and encourage green investment.\n Experts Ready to Build Kosovo\u2019s Energy Future\nKosovo has highly qualified energy experts capable of implementing advanced renewable energy systems. The city is considered an ideal host, as in addition to the United Nations, it is home to more than 150 non-governmental organizations. Several of these organizations are actively engaged in the renewable energy sector, including Eurosolar and the World Wind Energy Association.\n\nThe seasonal gathering focused on Germany\u2019s energy policy, which has developed within a market of major international importance for renewable energy. The conference also clarified why this policy has been successful and examined its continuity following parliamentary elections.\n\nPolicy Must Enable Renewable Energy\n\n\u201cThere is much to discuss \u2014 but even more to act upon.
